We’re striving for a South Carolina where no dream is too big, everyone feels welcome, and all of us are empowered with the resources and freedom to pursue the life we imagine for ourselves, our families, and our communities.
As a proud South Carolinian, I want all of our communities to be happy, healthy, and safe.
We have a groundbreaking opportunity right now to shape what the future of our district and the state is going to look like. In order to do that, we need courageous leaders in Columbia who are willing to listen, bring fresh ideas to the table, and represent our best interests.
After 12 years of the same representation in our District, we deserve to have a choice about our way forward. I know we can preserve what makes our communities special, while making good on the promise of a better quality of life for everyone. It's time we start believing that a better way is possible.
Taylor grew up in a middle-class family, with hard working parents who instilled in him the values of perseverance, humility, service, and care for the most vulnerable. Throughout his childhood he was supported by a community of friends and family that believed in his ability to make a difference.
After graduating high school, Taylor went to the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated in 2015 with a bachelor's of science in economics.
Today, Taylor is a nonprofit director; entrepreneur; and a mentor. He has dedicated himself to helping children and adults lead lives of courage and integrity.
In his role at the Center for Courage & Renewal, he helps equip leaders in service oriented professions with the resources they need to cultivate trustworthy relationships and positively transform their institutions.
He founded his own nonprofit, Brother Box, in 2018 to inspire Black boys here and across the country to dream big and be their most authentic selves.
And he serves on the leadership board of Closing the Gap SC, helping to close the education gap by providing scholarships and support to students in the Upstate pursuing their college degree.
Taylor’s most important roles are passionate husband and devoted father.Taylor and Nenna are wine enthusiasts who love visiting new vineyards and learning new things about winemaking.
They enjoy traveling to new and familiar destinations, soaking up different cultures, and expanding their horizons. They try their best to never miss a Pittsburgh Steelers game during football season. And their happy place as a family includes any of South Carolina’s beautiful beaches, soaking up the sun and getting lost in the sound of the waves.
We have to lower costs and help families keep more of their hard-earned money.
We have to raise wages, create good paying jobs, advance workers' rights, support small business, and create an economy that leaves none of us behind.
We have to fix our roads and strengthen our infrastructure, make housing more attainable, preserve our natural resources, and ensure the benefits of our growth are shared among the many instead of hoarded by the few.
We have to champion every child's potential, invest more in education, keep taxpayer dollars in public schools, and make sure parents have access to quality childcare.
We have to protect our families and communities by preventing crime, reducing gun violence, and elevating public health.
We have to defend our personal freedoms so that everyone can be who they are, love who they want, make decisions about their own bodies, and pursue the life they want to live.
Bringing our vision to life is possible, but only if we're willing to consistently put in the work. The people who hold the power are banking on our apathy and cynicism to maintain the status quo, but together we have the power to chart a different course.
At a time when civic engagement continues to decline and we often treat our politics as a spectator sport, we have to remember that every vote we cast, every voice we raise, and every moment we advocate for change are bold actions that make a real difference and tip the scales towards a better South Carolina for everyone.
The way we're approaching politics has devastating effects on our ability to make our lives better. And, it doesn’t have to be this way! We have to shift the way we see and treat one another. By showing each other the kind of compassion and respect that we desire for ourselves, we reclaim our power as citizens and expand our capacity for progress.
Our leaders and institutions have given us so little to believe in lately. We're going to have to find ways to believe in each other. I know it's a monumental task, but this is the only path towards long-term and sustainable progress that can create the happier, healthier, and safer communities we know are possible.
